Functional and structural characterization of peptides derived from hiv-1 gp41 membrane proximal and transmembrane domains. implications for anti-hiv inhibitor and inmunogen development

Tesis doctoral de Beatriz Apellaniz Unzalu

1- relevant in vitro assays for mper membrane activity should include:- mper peptide redefined to bear the hydrophobic-at-interface region plus the nterminalresidues of the tmd.- A lipid bilayer whose composition includes concentrations of cholesterol as highas those present in the viral envelope.2- preliminary results support that in vitro assays for mper activity, optimizedaccording to those parameters, are useful tools for new hiv-1 inhibitor and immunogendevelopment.
