Tesis doctoral de David López Val
In this thesis we have studied several phenomenological aspects of flavor and higgs boson physics beyond thestandard model at the lhc and the future linear colliders. On the one hand we have concentrated on the flavor-changing interactions mediated by gluinos, chargino/neutralinos and charged higgs bosons in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (mssm), and their impact on the production ofelectrically-neutral heavy-quark pairs (tc, bs) in proton-proton collisions. In the most favorable regimes, the crosssections for bothchannels may furnish up to barely 1 pb; this implies barely 10*5 events per 100 inverse femtobarn of integrated luminosity and, in the particular case of tc, a factor of roughly 10″7 above the sm expectations which are largely suppressed as a result of the glashow-iliopoulos-maiani (glm) mechanism. On the other hand, we have analysed the phenomenological role of trilinear higgs boson selfcouplings in the general (non-supersymmetric) two higgs-doublet model (2hdm). We have shown that their potentially large enhancements may stamp significant imprints on several higgsboson production mechanisms at future linearcolliders, both at the tree level (e.G. In the form of a substantial boost of the cross-sections corresponding to e+e- > hhh and e+e- > hh + x which may climb up to l picobarn); and through quantum effects with relative radiative corrections reaching up to 50 % in processes like e+e- -> hz, hz, with h standing for the neutral, cp-even higgs bosons h0,h0, ln the mssm, and owing to the purely gauge nature of the triple higgs boson selfcouplings, none of the latter effects become manifest. All in all, we have identified a manifold of characteristic signatures (highly distinctive of both models), which could be well feasible at the tevclass collider facilities and, if ever observed, might constitute not only a solid evidence of new physics, but also a sensitive probe to the structure of the underlying model.
