We define steiner vector bundles on algebraic varieties, generalising the well-known steiner vector bundles on projective spaces. We characterise exceptional and simple general steiner vector bundles and we prone the stability of exceptional steiner vector bundles defined by a pair (ox(-1), ox), where x is a smooth projective hypersurface q degree d, 1¿d¿n-1. we give sufficient cohomological conditions for a vector bundle to be a steiner vector bundle and we give complete cohomological characterisation of some bundles on a projective spaces and on the hyperquadric qn c pn+1
