Desarrollo de una metodología para la valoracion en el analisis del ciclo de vida aplicada a la gestion integral de residuos municipales.

Tesis doctoral de Leonor Patricia GÁ¼ereca Hernandez

The life cycle assessment (lca) is a methodological tool, which determines the potential environmental impacts associated with a product or service, since the raw materials extraction until the final disposition. Their steps are the next: · goal definition and scope · life cycle inventory analysis · life cycle impact assessment · life cycle interpretation in life cycle inventory analysis (lci), input and output data are processed to produce an inventory of environmental interventions, but many data are uncertain because came from estimations made by the lca practitioner. Next, in the life cycle impact assessment (lcia) step the relative importance of each environmental intervention is determined and grouped in a set of indicators named impact categories, however the comparisons between systems and the making decision process is difficult. In lca, the valuation step is very controversial, since it involves ideological elements and value judgments. However, it is very useful because it supports the decision-making process and facilitates the comparisons. In order to strengthen the valuation step, in this thesis it is established a new method, which includes normalization and weighting. The methodological proposal involves the valuation method of distance to target (dtt) with the multi-attribute value theory (mavt) and the fuzzy sets theory. The result is a process which facilitates the consideration and the treatment of uncertainty and subjectivity. The first step of the valuation methodology proposed consists of the acquisition of a partial environmental impact indicator, calculated on the basis of the life cycle impact assessment (lcia) results, an emissions inventory of the studied region, as well as the political targets and sustainability thresholds for a given area. Next, the partial indicator obtained is transformed to obtain a fuzzy linguistic descriptor, which permits the construction of a preference order amongst a series of alternatives. Another objec
